Need some help please...
I am planning on buying my husband an Xbox360 for Xmas but I am not sure which console to go for. I know there is a basic core system but you need to buy extra memory for it as well as the deluxe version with the 20GB hard drive. I know Mr L will only use the console for gaming (and unlikely to download them or play the Xbox live games) so will the core system plus the extra memory be sufficient? Or is best to pay the extra and go for the full system? I know the deluxe system comes with a wireless controller but I can always add that on to the core..
Any help would be much appreciated! :) |

I would go for the basic, you can always upgrade for his birthday. My hubby has the old x box which is amazing...so this is what I based info on.

I also have the old one and the games are awesome hence i would weigh up the difference in price, if it is only £20=30 difference get the bigger one if the difference is £100 or more get the lower version and with the money you just saved treat yourself to a massage, facial, spa etc. day out.   |

Leyla, you can buy a good premium package from play.com:
Xbox360 premium, two wireless controllers and PGR3 (very good game) for £279. Bloody thing is always sold out though.
http://www.play.com/Games/Xbox360/RTS/3-/1626983/XBox_360_Premium_Console_Bundle_+_PGR_3_+_Free_Extra_Wireless_Controller/Product.html
We brought my brother a package from PC world for £350, same as above but with 2 more good games.

Have a good look through the pc world section, they have quite a few good packages. Personally though, i would go for the premium package, trying to upgrade to it will only cost you more in the long run. If you want any more help just ask. |

It's about £50-£70 depending on where you look ... I would go for the full package but forget the facial - mine is done by a cement mixer :)
I don't think it's the case with the Xbox, but Apple is a master of cheeseparing - for a "saving" of £150 or £200 you get all sorts of things made slightly inferior (slower processor, slower graphics card, half the memory, smaller hard disk ...). It also tends to offer 3 or 4 similar models at once of which the second most expensive (never the most expensive) is best value. |

Thank you Susan, Big Bro and Khan! I have been looking on Play.com and they have some great deals, thanks Khan.
Bro...oh believe me...if I do get him the premium package he will be sending me to the spa for a massage as compensation for making me an Xbox widow!
For myself, I am liking the look of the new Nintendo Wii, anyone got one? |

Wait about three extra months for the PS3, that would be my advice.
Besides, I heard that Pro Evo Soccer has some faults on the 360. |

I heard around £350...but the money your gonna pay for an XBox360...you have to save another £100 or so in the space of about 3 months to get the PS3 - a system which will be top of its kind for a good few years in game console terms.
Nintendo are set to be bringing something out soon too but I heard the PS3 is gonna be the one. |

| Forget PS3, there are no games that are worth its price... Go for the 360 premium with Gears of War bundled, it's an awesome game |

Well, I think Mr L is waiting to find out more about the blue ray DVD capability of the PS3 even if it means buying it to use as a DVD player..
I have a feeling I will be getting the Nintendo Wii for Xmas ;) The tennis game with the new wireless wand is meant to be pretty impressive.. |

Wii i heard is more for the child market unlike the PS3 and Xbox360 which are developed with the older gamer in mind. |
