This thread is more about discussing EOKA analytically rather than emotionally.
You will ask me then; why did I make this thread so black and white; i think because it is easier to argue. Debates purpose is not about getting the answer because there is no single right answer; it is about understanding deeper why we hold one point of view. |

why do we hold one point of view ?
good question. personal experiences is for one an important factor. education and mass media is the second. then without realising it, we search of rational arguments on sth which is deeply emotional. lets assumed that you have attacked and killed or injured my father. do you think i would sit down and make a rational analysis of the situation or would i say f*** you and your "fair struggle", you are nothing more than a terrorist. even if my father was an extreme right wing fascist israeli, neverthless you have attacked my father - period.
second education matters a whole lot. when we went to school and learned nothing less that eoka liberated cyprus , and when Turkish Cypriots go to school and learn that eoka attacked Turkish Cypriots, what do you expect to find in our dialogues ?
just out of curiosity, where do you draw your sources from when it comes to eoka ?
.....
i will answer later on to your previous post... |
