Quote: New mouse find is 'living fossil'
A new species of mouse found in Cyprus is delighting scientists.
Identified by researchers at Durham University, it has bigger ears, eyes and teeth than other European mice.
The scientists say it is a surviving remnant of indigenous Cypriot fauna which mostly went extinct with the arrival of humans.

Based on your theory Kifeas every species introduced to Cyprus from outside Cyprus is itself 'indigenous' so long as it was present when there was a 'take over' of Cyprus. That is the basis of your claim that Greek Cypriot (and Turkish Cypriot) are the indigenous people of Cyprus - though when applied to animal species it is even clearer nonsense than when u applied it to humans. |

| I guess over the centuries the mice developed bigger ears, eyes and teeth so they can hear better, eat better and eat better. The first 2 are understandable because in this country nobody listens or sees beyong his nose.I am baffled about the teeth though :? :? |

Come on bir and Alexios, I was trying to keep this thread at least on a lighter note and you guys are bringing it down. Is this what it is becoming. We can't even look at a Cypriot mouse and not see blood coming out of its' mouth and eyes. Look at it again its cute and innocent and knows nothing about what is going on there. It's a mouse. :) |
