I found this on youtube, and think it is a really good documentary, documenting the lives of some Greek Cypriots who came to the UK, preWW2, and created teh community we have today. im sure also, many Turkish Cypriots (who came over in the preWW2 period) experianced much the same.

Very interesting. Thanks for sharing this Dhav.
And I'm glad that I took the 1 hour time yesterday to watch all 6 parts.
Good though that I know a bit Greek as the visual quality of the English subtitles was pretty poor :-( |

| The author is Panayiotis Yiakoumi and he is an interesting chap. He went to the UK after 1974 as a hairdresser. He took on a liking to education and he has done a couple of university degrees since. A very progressive fellow indeed. He heralds from the fair village of Gypsos (now called Acova). Plain land people are always much better than the scruffy and uncivilised mountain people. We have a saying: You come actross a mountain man. Grab hold of a stick! |
