Okay, so it is the turkish c which is pronounced as ch.
Chambas is someone who has limited skills in whatever he is doing. This is the every day meaning of the word and we use it a lot in Cyprus. |

| It does indeed refer to someone who is "curious" but can also mean "anxious". It can also mean " greatly interested in". |

according to my Turkish-German dictionary it means:
neugierig, interessiert, begeistert,beunruhigt, besorgt
but also Freund, Liebhaber, Anhänger, Fan, Fanatiker,Narr
(the German for Cypez, as he speaks my language) :-)
in English:
curious, interested, enthusiastic, concerned, anxious
and friend, lover (fan), fanatic, fool
for example: futbol meraklisi = football fan
(sorry, have no i without the dot :-) ) |

| To G/Cs, Meraklis is someone skilled at something. A meraklis chef for example is someone who takes a great interest in cooking but also very good at it:) |

No, it is "Allah-belasini-versin" joined in one word. In English one would say "Godtroublegiven!" |

true!
in lesvos, a traditional song (from people having the beautiful name :glentistades :P ) sais :
opoios den einai merkalis tou prepei na pethanei
giati se touto ton dounia , adika topo pianei
anyone who is not a meraklis , deserves to die
bc in this world, he is just using up space
i give my vote to that 8) 8) |
