There is a problem but it only affects email notifications sent by the forum - not the actual form itself. I am trying to get it resolved, or alternatively I can just turn off all email notifications and the problem goes away, but no one will get email notifications of new PM or new posts they are subscribed to (vs some people getting them now and some not)

There is no such option in the profile. The spell check can be used or not when making a post.
As already said erolz is working on getting this solved.

Actually before about 4 hours ago there was such an option in users profile and the spell check was also causing problems with posts, so disabling it in profile did help - however all the old spell check and the problems it was causing have now been remvoed and replaced with a spiffy new 'in line' spell check system. Just select the option when making a post. Try it out - its much nicer than the old system :)

Maybe should have made this clear...

P.S. I like the new spell-checker.

Yeah I am still working on this one. I have a support query raised with the sites hosters and am waiting for them to come back to me, hopefully with the solution to this problem.

Say no to the spell check people it will destroy you.

I am not the best speller in the world and when I found that there was such a thing I thought it was the best thing in the world. I had no idea that it would bring about anxiety attacks greater than those that existed when I handed in my essays at school.

When I first sat down at the computer and opened Microsoft Word I saw a friend in the spell checker.
I typed a word and no error messages came up. I grew in confidence and typed another word but this time mispelled it deliberatly and low and behold; the program underlined my misspelled word with a wavy red line. It even gave me a few samples of the word that it thought I was trying to spell and I just picked the right one.

After a short while of typing a word and looking up from the keyboard to see if there was a red wavy line under it and before correcting/moving on I got well into my essay and concentrated on my two fingered prowess of the keyboard and my obvious talent for writing. A frenzied twenty minutes or so later, elated and full of myself I looked up at the screen and my expression turned to horror. Apart from the many red wavy lines there were other colours. My screen looked like someone had thrown up over it. What had I done?

My teachers at school seemed like pussycats compared to this machine. I would get a mark at school that took into account my whole essay. The teacher would consider the merits in encouraging me with praise for my story although I would lose marks for my spelling but this machine tore into me with every thing it had. I felt dejected, I felt stupid.

I felt from then on that I was in competition with this machine. I returned to typing one word and checking before I continued on to the next. When a red wavy line appeared I tutted to my self and pretended that I had hit the wrong key. Every word was a roller coaster ride. You know what was really the worst? I would type in a word and hesitantly press the full stop button to see no red line appear and heave a sigh of relief. Upon pressing the return button and just after a few letters have appeared on the screen, the computer would suddenly underline a whole sentence and bring up an error message and then refuse to help you by printing the words “No suggestions” in a small box.

Erolz, I know you are not a pusher and it is not illegal to use the spell check but it would be a responsible thing to put a health warning near the button of the spell check and a short waver for legal reasons.

Your friend
Zna.

I think the problem with emails notifications being sent from the forum is now resolved. You should no longer get those horrible error messages when posting pm's or to threads that someone has subcribed too. If you are still getting them then please let me know. Sorry for taking so long to sort this.

Zan - ill leave your warning as the health and legal waver warning - that way I dont have to play with any of the html on the forum ;)

Because in the past they were a pain in the arse for people trying to access the forum by non-broadband means (which in Cyprus means quite a few). So there.
