29 July 2006
Spanish newspapers claim that Real Madrid full back Reberto Carlos is set to sign for Turkish side Fenerbache. The Brazilian was set for a move to Chelsea but it seems now that they are set to sign Ashley Cole from Arsenal.
Cant locate the link on this article.
If it's true, I wonder how much they are offering him!!?? |

I don't see the point of him going there, he is well past his sell by date.
I Can never understand why Turkish Club's buy such old players |

Obviously to sell as many season tickets as possible to brainless fans... Also, cause a young, talented Carlos would never go to Turkey (just like he'd never come to Greece) for all the money in the world. And also because even if for some strange reason Carlos accepted to go to Turkey while still young, no sane football club owner would give him the money he was being paid during his golden years at Real Madrid...
Same thing in Greece; Panathinaikos offered Saviola a sh*tload of money this summer, still the guy (rightly so as he sees Greece one step before retiring to Emirates) declined to come to our cr@ppy Greek league... |

There seemed to be some secrecy about his move...we will have to wait till Monday...
Never the less he wil draw the crowd in Turkey..

Why, do Fener have problems filling up there ground?
Unless Fenerbache have a limitless pot of gold, then this would seem like an unwise move by the club. You only have to look at the wages he will demand in perspective to how good he really is now.
...and its not like Fener have big merchandising sales across the globe to recoup from shirt sales with 'Carlos' accross the back.
Then again, Rivaldo at Olympiakos seems to have worked ok...but he is an attacker and has more of an impact on goals scored. |

My dad will be a happy man - at least for start of season. These big names seldom deliver. It's an easy place to get hero worshipped, look good and make a stack, and not have same competition for places...
And no Fener stadium is always full and the club is very rich. It may not be Madrid or Man U for global merchandise, but it is rich in alot of other ways, including being backed by Koc family (one of richest in Turkey) - think one of sons is on the Fener board. |
