One could also argue that allowing a team from the North to play one from the South, without requiring the team in the north to accept the authority over them of the Cyprus fedration, would not actualy change the Republic of Cyprus ability to argue it's case. Or so it seems to me.
You mean the Cyprus football federation should allow a T/C team (or any team including a G/C one) to participate and compete in the one of its sponsored football leagues, without this team recognising the Cyprus football federation or being listed in its registry? Is this possible? |

Was it not recently when a south cyprus team played a team from turkey the G/C supporters were heard to be chanting Quote: Turks Turks your going to die on greek soil
Ididn't know that racism and intimidation had got so deep into sport.
By the way another thing that confuses me is if Turkey & sth Cyprus do not recognise each other then how did they play in each others country.
It may be a glimmer of hope       |

Actually I was'nt tlaking about 'shoulds' at all only 'coulds'. There could be tomorrow and thereafter 'friendly' games between Greek Cypriot teams and Turkish Cypriot teams, if we wanted to have such interaction and were willing to ignore 'politics' as far as it affects this kind of thing. That's all I was saying to make the point that what stops such is not just Turkish Cypriot 'intrasigence' in refusing to recognise the authority of CFF over Turkish Cypriot teams but and equal intrasignece from the Greek Cypriot to insist they do - and neither insistance, if dropped, would actualy affect either sides ability to 'argue their case' politicaly. |

Maybe not but such was reported to have happened.

Now personally , as I said at the time I think, I do not look to football crowds to indicate if there is a deep seated intercommunal hatred. I think they are far to 'unatural' an indication of such things myself. I |

There were already several such friendly (non official) matches since 2003. |

But can I point out that at the beginning of this thread I meant that there should be BI-COMMUNAL teams, rather that Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot matches.
So I mean that there should be teams with mixed players, based on their abilities rather than there political/cultural background. This could actually unite the fans imo as slowly slowly the country would back their team abroad (although I know that this is probably unlikely to happen because of legal reasons). I don't mean more games BETWEEN Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots because of course, this would create more hatred between the two sides.
It just seems to me that sports have very positive unifying qualities, theoretically free from any political interference. |

I was not aware of that, so thanks for setting me straight. I personaly see such interaction, despite our political differences, as a good thing. |

| Hey, I'm really surprised to hear about the people shouting that......they said that everything was fine....their are a few people who still resent the Turkish invasion and don't "like the Turks" (not the Turkish Cypriot's can I just add), which obviously doesn't help anyone, or the situation......... |
