Couple of moving articles I ran into. Perhaps Tpap and Talat should run off to Vermont together.

i think thats the mai reason of those meetings :

Quote: As this was a peace-building camp, we had dialogue group sessions nearly every day. In these dialogue groups we mainly discussed Cyprus problem; how it originated, how it spread and its present effects. Also we focused on understating each sides opinions and improving the relations between communities. We sometimes had really hard times discussing these. At some points, miserable memories came up and opinions clashed when we were trying to discriminate the truth from lie. But despite, all of the negative things, we could agree on a common opinion and also our friendships were becoming stronger and stronger.

Quote: A highlight of the dialogue groups was the history walk. We were separated into monocommunal groups (i.e. Greek Cypriots together and Turkish Cypriots together) and we were asked to write the Cyprus history starting from the 1950’s till today from our community’s point of view on pieces of paper. Then our facilitators got these pieces of paper and pasted them on the floor in chronological order and we were asked to walk though time. Some events were mentioned in one community but not in the other. Sometimes the same event was mentioned in both communities but with a completely different point of view. Many were silent, shocked. Some were in tears. From the history walk we could understand each other better, we realised that in history we don’t usually learn the whole truth or there are missing parts.

and in general thats where they can lead :
Quote:
Even though we are scattered all over the island our job to bring peace in Cyprus still continues...

Quote: I believe that at the camp, we proved that peace will come to Cyprus soon and the two communities can live together in peace.

thanks for the above tufan

How can you love anything to do with Ronald Reagan!? The guy was almost as bad as George W!?

I would like to see the context in which he gave that remark???

Regardless of the man who said it or the context in which it was said, the words are extremely well put in relation to Cyprus and Cypriots. Or are you just after an argument, for arguments sake.

No im not looking for an argument, I just find that taking something from Ronald Reagan as positive is weird coming from someone who seems a 'socialist'.

Come on, its Ronald Reagan, one of the most evil leaders in the world for Cliff's sake.

He probably said 'I love you' to his wife, DLS. Can we not take that as positive?

PS. I'm as much a socialist as I am a Christian orthodox. I was weened that way, but as I got older I saw the light.

Was that before or after he slaughtered innocents in Libya?

Or your kicking back because of the way you were brought up and expect all of us to do the same (dont mean to sound personal).

I'm 'kicking back' because, like all true Cypriots, the division of my homeland affects me psychologically. I'm trying to deal with it by somehow turning this negative into a positive and, of course, would like my fellow Cypriots to do the same.

Man you really are a court jester. Reagan was responsible, along with Gorbachev, to remove the iron curtain thus providing freedom to millions upon millions. You, however, seem to to be cruising for a fight. you remain oblivious to truths, reality and the human condition. I feel sorry for you. You are a miserable little man incapable of any human feelings.

You really watch too much CNN. Go ask people in downtown areas what they think of Reagan.
