|
|
To all forum members,
Due to recent discussions initiated by the members of the forum; Mods/Admin have taken the decision to remove the function allowing members to use external avatars.
The function enabling this will be turned off in one week's time of this post, and we encourage members to select a new avatar from the available internal avatars supplied by the forum. |

Then would you kindly add some more avatars under the "Men" classification of avatars besides the two dancing comedians Laurel and Hardy?
Thanx! |

It is to avoid some members from using provocative avatars that upset and ultimately become counter productive as they can cause offense and steers many members into a debate that renders no results and in some extreme cases is a cause for degenerating the debates we have on the forum. |

As for flags, they will also be disabled within a week because unlike Cyprus, we dont want all aspects of 'society/forum threads' to be politicised by the existance of flags/politcal logos, so we decided to get rid of them.
It also will help people to show there more human side, and hopefully create less aggression towards one another and generally in the forum.
These have been heavily debated and wholly agreed amongst the admins and mods as a positive way forward for our forum and we appreciate our members understanding and support in this matter as we endevour to make the forum a serious place to debate, learn and understand each other. |

We have debated this, and was one of the first suggestions...however, quenstions arise over when is something offensive/provocative? Even, when is a flag a flag and not jsut a symbol? It leads to too many complications...and may cause more problems than it solves. Without going into the debate, it is just easier to give everyone a selection to chose from. I hope you understand.
If you want, we can put some of the avatars you create onto the forum selection, but you will need to get in touch with erol to do that i think. |

Agreed, there is nothing stopping our members from putting avatars they would like to use forward to the admins whom if they find them acceptable will more than likely post it in the avatars list for you to use. |

guys this decision sucks and you know it...You are restricting members of their individuality and creativity...
Why should I go into all the trouble of creating a unique avatar to use and having to share it with other members?...Can you imagine the problems and bitching this will create?...Or you are suggesting you will be policing this as well? |

We are not trying to restrict our members but this is a necessary measure to ensure the smooth running of the forum and should be seen as a positive development as the forum matures.
Boom i hope you will support this as its more important to have people talking, learning and understanding one another then restricted usage of avatars, that said you do have the most interesting and unique avatars and if you found that someone else decided to use it being the creative person you are that i have come to know you will surely just make another great one hence this is a blessing in disguise which will probably make you into the avatar king. :D |

bro we are always talking...Actually I haven't been participating in the forum for quite some time because I am flat out and I was in China the last 3 weeks...Which by the way I had some time to spare but I was unable to log on to this forum...I think I logged once from DongGuan but couldn't from Shenzhen...
But mate people do talk on the forum, flames will happen...we are Cypriots...to expect anything else is imposible.
The ability to choose your own individuality shouldn't be taken away...Its wrong and undemocratic
otherwise I am pulling out my secret weapon

You have me scared but i am going to risk it for the sake of the forum.
I think you was away when we had members argueing over flags they found offensive then it degenerated even more when some started to post 'golden dawn' avatars and sunk further when avatars showing the shooting of solomous (may he RIP) on the flag started to appear amongst the many others i have not mentioned.
You and i and the many other members are capable of self restarint but not all and we never want a repeat of what happened hence this very tough decision was taken. |

Yes I was away because I never seen the avatars you are talking about...But if its not the avatars it will be something else...you know this...
You can't go around banning priviledges because at the end there will be no forum...Typing will be banned at the end....
Flags and political avatars should be banned...But as it stands you are taking priveledges away from people that have nothing to do with flames...In other words the actions of a few dictate the actions of the majority...
I demand arbitration from annan  |

As we speak Annan is preparing a plan and it will be ready in about.......30 years....so not much time.
It may be a little inconvinient getting approval but your avatars are worth the effort  and to boot the forum gets to keep the old ones that you stop using. :D |
