Virtually visit any place in the world. Look across the Andes, into the Grand Canyon, over the Alps, or along the African Sahara.

Warning - although this is superbly done it is even more resource-intensive than Google Earth. It won't even run on my three-year-old laptop.

Google Mars is also around should the Earth become boring ...

For a stunning cross-platform planetarium try Stellarium. Open source, and a great sky display (which actually requires the lights turned off to look its best!)
