NEPOMAK has now opened applications for this summer’s NEPOMAK Discover Cyprus Program. The next program will run early July and August 2006 and is heavily subsidised with candidates making only a small contribution. The scholarship will cover the cost of excursions, the airfare, accommodation and course fees.

The NEPOMAK Discover Cyprus Programm is our flagship language and cultural program run in association with the University of Cyprus and the Cyprus Youth Board.

The program runs twice a year, January and August, and is targeted at overseas Cypriots between the ages of 18 and 22, from all around the world.

Successful applicants undertake a three week intensive language course at the University of Cyprus’ School of Modern Greek in addition to a series of excursions to museums, monasteries and the Green Line.

NDCP Information at a glance

The following information is for the July/August 2006 program.

Program Includes: Flights, 3 weeks study at Universtiy of Cyprus' School of Modern Greek, accomodation at the University of Cyprus halls of residence for 3 weeks. The final few weeks are free for candidates to spend with their relatives.

Program Dates: 3-21 July 2006
Total Duration: 3 Weeks
Study Venue: University of Cyprus Campus site, Nicosia
Accomodation: University of Cyprus Dormatory, Panestimioupoli, Nicosia
Candidate Contribution: Candidates will pay a small contribution towards the total cost of the program. Amount will be advised to those who are successful.

I believe this is only for the Greek speaking Cypriots but I will ask tomorrow(not sure if there are any Turkish speaking Cypriots that want to participate).

Cant remember the name but there is one for 12-16 year olds. They fly you from the UK to Cyprus and its like an action-holiday. You only pay for a flight that subsidised. Many people go to it and just stay in Cyprus till their friends/family arrive.

Ive been on the one that Crash is talking about...whcih was good fun, cos of the people we were with, but its true that most people go on it just to get cheap flights for the kids! lol.

WE stayed in Prodromos...so it was really wierd waking up without air con and it being really cold! lol

Good experiance tho.

THe NEPOMAK thing i saw in teh cypriot-english paper parikiaki, and think it would be really cool to do, but hey, i need to earn money! not spend it! lol...but yes i think it is for Greek Cypriots only, since they stay in teh south only, and do a crash course in greek. But you may as well try! THey do it in the southern hemisphere too, but hey do that in the winter, when it is summer in Oz.
