Anyone know if anyone in Cyprus who downloads excessively can get sued like in the states or in some cases uk?
I have been reading up on RIAA s website in the states and it seems theyre just dishing out lawsuits everywhere?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Am not worried in the slightest because i dont download stuff like that off the net(too many dangers) i buy most of my stuff original or copied, but i have a few mates who get everything they need and want from the internet 24/7/365.
Anyone know if laws in cyprus will allow for people to get sued? |

Tell your friend to go on google and read up on spoofing his/her IP number/hiding behind a proxy.
EG: Invisible Browsing v5.0 will do the trick (has some very good proxy servers on its database).
Use this when downloading to give the RIAA not only the wrong IP number, but the wrong country you are based in :) |

| I don't know. I would imagine though that should they somehow come to this small Island, they'd have bigger fish to fry than you or me, they'd have all the kiosks, marketstalls, shops and any other place that sells pirate CDs |

No, they can't - copyright infringement is a civil offence in national law, although there is a minimum standard across nations (the Berne Convention).
So, if there is a Cypriot Phonographic/Kinematographic Association (or similarly antiquated name!) it could try ... |
