I'm kind of tired of hearing the same people reiterating the same views about Cyprus problem over and over in different discussions. I'm also tired of expressing my own same views in different discussions over and over. It would be really nice if we had a "Member Views Corner" where each forum member is given a page where they explain their views about Cyprus Problem. It doesn't even have to be static, members can change the content as they shape up their views.
The benefits of such a section would be:
1- If I'm going to say something in a discussion that I already expressed in my corner, I'll simply provide a link to it. Same goes for other forum members.
2- It'll help forum members to shape their views on Cyprus problem by asking them to put down their views on a single page.
3- If someone new joins in, we can simply refer him/her to read this page for greater understanding of the forum community before jumping into discussions.
We can even subdivide this section into more refined topics and members can post under subtopics if they have a concrete view. For example, we could have something like this.
Members View Corner
Views on return of all refugees
Mete
erolz
cannedmoose
Kifeas
Views on bizonality
boomerang
brother
Kifeas
Views on partition
Eric Dayi
Viewpoint
Views on 1960 agreements
Mete
erolz
Please note that this is not meant to replace discussions. I have certain views on bizonality, for example, and it's not going to change no matter what. It's just a place for me to post those so everybody knows. Or Eric Dayi believes in partition, he can post his views under that topic once instead of saying it over and over again in discussions. |

| Not sure that this will prevent verbal exchanges between the likes of Kifeas and Eric Dayi, but it seems like a good idea to me. It would also be a good place for members to post ideas for plans etc. |

Well, this might be true for you but I know some forum members have solid views on topics. I think after discussing so many topics on Cyprus problem, we should start having more concrete opinions anyway, don't you think? Maybe this effort will help you to shape your opinions, as I explained earlier. |

its a good idea. i am not that sure if it works, but it is true: we waste a lost of time in repeating the same arguments over and over again.
perhaps that will force us to get more substance or more constructive discussions...perhaps
however i have the feeling at times, that we enjoy arguing . so, our purpose is to argue and not have a constractive discussion... hope i am wrong on this one  |

Could we start with:
Views on blood-thirsty lying Turks
and
Views on blood-thirsty lying Greeks
so that we do not have to read that all over the place all the time? |

Great idea,pg...
And i think i can improve on it.So we never have to read it anywhere.
We assign numbers to peoples' views.we rank from 1 to 10 all the differing views On Blood-thirsty Turks, for example. If we think the turks are really nice people that could be 1.If we think the Turks are really blood-thirsty liers waiting to jump on innocent Greeks, that would be 10.
The same thing for the views on blood-thirsty lying Greeks, of course.
In the actual discussions we can then use the numbers to express our opinions.(Err,I think i'll give that a 2...this one will be a 3 etc etc)
What do you think???   |

I like Mete's idea. That will also help members to better understand each other. It can prevent misunderstandings if you know where the other one stands on certain issues (without needing to surf through half of the forum to find that members view).
Its also nice for new members so they "get to know" our community a bit before they start posting....
On the technical side: I know from other php forums that each member can have a "nickpage" to post personal info, views etc. But in that way you would not have an overview as Mete suggested but a single page for each member. Not sure if that would serve the purpose. :? |
