I'ver seen that crash, but thx.
ok,. I rephrase it:
1. Is it true that a BT headset requires Widcomm sw in order to be able to work with a PC?
2. Is Widcomm anywhere available for free? |

I have done this before.
Win XP comes with BT drivers but as fart as I know these do NOT support the BT headset service.
Both the USB BT dongles I vbought came with widcom drvier software - but the software is specific to the device. The drivers do not work with other BT dongles only the device they shipped with :(
The biggest problem I had getting this working and keeping this working is with stopping windows from using its drivers when the USB dongle is plugged into it. After plugging it, it automatically installed the Win XP drivers. I then had to manualy force it to change these to the widcom ones that shipped with the device. then finally I was able to use my bluetooth headset. I also have to do this again sometimes when I re plug the BT dongle.

Exactly, they do not support headsets. BT itself works. The PC for example can communicate with mobile phones.
Unfortunately my Logitech headset didn't come with any drivers...
Thats why I did a Google search and all I could find out was that I seem to need that Widcomm SW. Hence my question here if thats true. So I don't try getting it without knowing whether it will work or not...
I'm not sure about the dongle though, will have to check if that came with some drivers. :? |

These are the important drivers. The ones that came with your BT dongle (if thats what u are using on the PC). The dongle should have come with drivers. These will almost certainly support BT headsets. The hardest part is often getting windows to let you use these drivers and NOT the windows xp default BT drivers.
Try and find the drivers that came with your PC BT device. They will almost certainly be widdcom ones and support BT headsets. |

Erol!! you were right (again :) ).
The dongle came with a CD and it has Widcomm on it. Silly me that I didn't check that earlier. :?
I installed that and now BT doesn't work at all. :-( Will restart the PC later and see what happens then... |

City I think what you will have to do is from 'device manager' select 'update driver' for the BT device and here you must not let windows automaticaly find 'best' driver but force it to accept the widdcom one that came with the BT device.
Good luck and let us know how you get on. |
