| My wife and I are moving to Cyprus on February 20th, and we are looking for an apartment or flat for long term rent. Ideally, we would like a two bedroom place in or near Paralimni. We are in our early 40's, and this is a permanent move for us. We are staying with friends for a few weeks when we arrive, so if there is anything available around that time, please contact us. |

| Hi. thanks for the link, I did actually see it before I posted my request. Larnaca is outside our preferred area. |

well, its only about a 30mins/1hr drive from larnaca to paralimni isnt now?
unless you have a specific reason, larnacais better than paralimni cositis like a proper town, with beaches etc, not just a summer tourist resort |

| I appreciate what you are saying, and I am grateful for your input, but we have friends in and around Paralimni. It is an area we know well, having visited a number of times in the past, and we like it there. Larnaca is a little too busy and cosmopolitan for our liking. We don't mind visiting it, but we don't really want to live there. |

Oh ok then, fari enough. Do your friends not know of any estate agents out there? Or maybe you could look for estate agents in the UK?
Is it a holiday home? or for perminant residence? |

| Our friends are looking for us as we speak, but it doesnt hurt to look from here too. We are looking for a permanent residence, not holiday. I am a buider, with 27 years experience of property maintenance. I would even be open to offers of property which might need a little TLC, in exchange for part of the rent. |

| I'd like to suggest an alternative: If you'll be staying long (as your message suggests) why don't you get a property loan and buy a house? I mean, instead of paying 300-600 CYP per month on rent, you could pay 500-700 for the loan, and you get to keep the house in the end. With land values as high as they are today, you'll most probably make a profit. |

We decided to rent for a while, to make sure we want to stay. I don't want the burden of a property to dispose of, if we decide to leave. We will buy a property after a period of around 12 months, we will know if we are staying by that time. |

this is a good plan. Lots of people move abroad only to find its not like the 2 week holidays they are used to. |
