|
|
Quote: INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed Cypriot singer Anna Vissi has decided to represent Greece in the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest.
Quote: Yes, we would like to see Anna Vissi represent Cyprus, but there is no crisis between Greece and Cyprus, as we consider our efforts in Eurovision as common. Whether Greece wins or Cyprus, it is the same for us. We are happy to see this time a Greek Cypriot representing Greece. This participation also represents Cypriots who are also proud. It is the right of Ms Vissi to choose for which country to sing.

Maybe they should just stand as one country?
I bet Wogan would love to hear this, as will the organisers of the Eurovision. |

I have a little bit of inside information, too.
Whereas it has been confirmed that the 2004 Greek representative Sakis Rouvas will be the male host, the 'secret' female presenter is Greek American Maria Menounos. She is not well-known to Brits, but she is going to be the co-presenter. Elena Paparizou will have the job of interviewing backstage (like Sertab and Ruslana the past two years).
Did Anna Vissi really get a bottle wedged up her kolo? Poor her. This will be her third time in Eurovision (second time for Greece), and she still looks great for a lady approaching 50. Kali tyhi, Anna (good luck, Anna)!

I agree with Cypezokyli. I don't really like Vissi's voice either and her pop style really doesn't suit her now that she's old.
I also agree that the competition isn't as good as it used to be when everyone sang in their native language. Now it's just mostly a collection of half-rate Europop songs, often delivered by singers who are obviously uncomfortable singing in english. |

| It would be nice to see Lebanon and Morocco in the contest. Morocco participated once and gave 12 points to Turkey, but Turkey did not reciprocate. |
