You have 10 trees and you have to plant them in five rows but each row must contain 4 trees. How is this possible?

Four members of a band are walking to a night concert. They decide to take a shortcut, but must cross a bridge. Luckily they have one flashlight. Because of the varying size of their instruments, it takes each member a different amount of time to cross the bridge - it takes the first person one minute, the second person two minutes, the third person five minutes and the fourth person ten minutes. They must cross the bridge in pairs, travelling at the slower speed so if the one minute person went with the ten minute person, it would take a total of ten minutes. Since there is only one flashlight, one person must come back across the bridge, then another pair can cross. They only have 17 minutes to cross the bridge and still get to the concert on time. What order should they cross to get everyone across and get to the concert?

The person or persons who may or may not have to go back have to do this in the overall time allowed

ok, I try:

1) 4.person+3.person go = 10 min
2) 1 min for one of them to go back, leaving his instrument with the guy on the other side =1 min
3) the one without instrument crosses the bridge with the 2.person = 2 min
4) one returns without any instrument = 1 min
5) he picks up the one with the last instrument and they cross = 1 min

total 15 min.
2 minutes left to get to the venue

9 trees form an equilateral triangle, with the 10th tree in the middle.

Absolutely correct. If you place the trees at the stars apex's and on the cross points you will find that it works.....

well done

Clever .......

Whoever goes back must take the same time as going across for the first time....IE. If it takes one person 10 minutes he obviously cannot go back and forth etc.

thats a clue but not as big as the Israelis...........

I was joking about bending the rules but it referred to no time taken to go back...............instead of some time.

you can do this............
