From the town of Klirou, about 18 KM south-west of Nicosia, follow the sign that says "Filani - 9KM". 15 minutes of driving later, you'll arrive at the tiny mountain village of Filani, essentially a paved square, an ancient church, a restaurant, and 10 traditional houses restored to excellent condition.

Enter the restaurant, managed by Mr. Yiannakos, the 90 year old mayor of the village, sit by the fireplace, and order meze. You'll be presented with:

- Xidata (pickles).
- Fresh salad.
- Grilled halloumi.
- Grilled sausage.
- Grilled pastourma.
- Red Cyprus mushrooms (with eggs, grilled, or in a stew).
- Various omelettes (strouthouthkia, agrelia, etc.)
- Afelia.
- Pilafi.
- Lamb's liver "salmi".
- Lamb in the oven with potatoes.

Also don't forget to order the home-made wine, served in traditionak "kolotzia", i. e. hollow pumpkins turned into bottles.

Went there today with the families. Very good.
