In case anyone is wondering where our users went

As part of the ongoing upgrading and maintainance of the forum I have deleted all users, that have not subsequently activated their accounts, except for the last 5 such users - to give them a fair chance to activate their accounts.

As such the 'number of users' shown by the forum has decreased.

Well for me, there is little point having a stat of 'members' if many of these have not even confirmed the membership. I think it's better to keep to as acurate figures as possible. At the end of the day, I could simply add loads of 'bogus' users to make it appear we have 5000 members - but what would be the point?

No you will not get cut off.

The sign up process is a two stage one. Stage one is to fill out and submitt the registration details. The second part is to 'confirm' registration by using the URL in the email sent to you after part one.
The user removed are only those that have completed part one but not part 2 - confirmation. These are the only users I have removed. As long as you have confirmed tyour registration your account will remain indefinately. There is no requirment to make a post, or a post within a certain period.

Hope thats a bit clearer now ?
