|
|
I remember reading somewhere reasonably authoritative that there is no generally agreed "objective account", in English, of the "Cyprus issue".
This is somewhat surprising, given that academics must surely have tackled it somewhere and churned out papers, conferences etc. etc.
Can anyone point me to one? (Online or printed)

This (the one above) probably is the best single site on the web re the cyprus problem. However I would describe it as 'balanced' rather than objective. It tires to be balanced by including sometimes one side articles but from both sides. If you see what I mean.
Oh and welcome to the forum 'thebrix' |

Alastair, I know of a few good and pretty objective sources... I'm not around until Monday but I'll post you a few links then mate.
However, as you rightly said, due to the contentious nature of the Cyprus problem, a wholly objective account (in any language) has yet to be written... separating fact from myth is often a difficult task. |

Ah, I think I've briefly come across that (massive) site before. Thanks; will read.
On the "balanced" if not "objective" side (I don't have enough knowledge to make that distinction), The Turks Today by Andrew Mango is a masterpiece. It is an account of Turkey 1938-2004 (out of the shadow of Atatürk) and, although Cyprus is not much mentioned, it is a fascinating read.
