|
|
Hi guys.
I'm thinking about getting a laptop but I have no idea which one so I was wondering whether any of you could recommend one?
My requirements are that it has enough memory (60GB minimum), CD player/RW and DVD player, wireless (intel centrino or pentium 4 - if I am not mistaken) and that it is relatively portable.
Dells are quite good but I find them quite boring to be honest.
Are Toshibas or HP any good?
Thanks

| Toshiba produces the highest quality laptops in my experience. On the other hand, stay away from Fujitsu/Siemens, they totally suck and have horrible customer services. |

| Is it true that with Sonys you are just paying extra because of the label? |

| Very very true. Unfortunately, this is the case with all of the well known brands. The components/quality of the machines are almost identical among all of the serious brands. |

| CY, are you living in Cyprus? If so, go for HP or Fujitsu/Siemens. They're the only brands that have decent service centers here. I understand this is not the case abroad, but it is the case in Cyprus. |

| I used to use a 17'' Toshiba laptop. Was pretty expensive but it had a glass screen not one of them LCD ones. Was a very quick laptop. |

They're all LCD, re. Doesn't matter if there's glass or plastic in front. ;-) |

| I have an HP and it's worked well for the last year and a half... as for Dhavre's advice on Packard Bell, last time I was speaking to him on MSN, his keyboard was buggered... either that or that was his excuse, he might have just been drinking heavily again   |

no...that is a problem...the keypad isnt buggered, it is just that the space bar is not sensitive....you have to use a hammer (joking...i dont really need to, but you get whta i mean ;) ) to get a space.
I havent drunken properly since thrusday...when the consequences were something i dont want to discuss. |
