Now i realise that Gibrizlija may not be suitable as its direct translation is "Cypriot" and of course Cypriots speak two official languages so which one? so lets choose another name...
A name that encapsulates the spirit of Turkish Cypriots while distinguishing it from others. Frech Canadians have since being calling themselves Quebecois, which is an Amerindian name.
I m curious to see what people think of... |

how about kommandarja?
commandaria used to be the name of cyprus because it produced so much sweet wine, it is also the name of the sweet wine itself and as we all know turkish cypriots can drink most countries under the table. |

| Turkish Cypriot just means a Turk from the island of Cyprus, in our language there isnt anything that says Turkish, but rather kibrisli Turk, which mean a Turk from Cyprus, just as we might say Turkmen, which translates to "i am Turk". So therefor Turk is all that needs to be said. |

as a turkish cypriot i dont feel happy with that conclusion. |
