This is another article from Zaman (respectable Turkish newspaper). The article is about the maverick Matsakis delivering the Turkish flag that he stole to a group of journalists. He claimed he wanted to give it to PM Erdogan but he wasnt available. Can you imagine that? Erdogan would probably chin him. I can see it now, Abdullah Gul holding Matsakis down with his weight and Erdogan getting ready to punch him (sweat on is forehead and a face red with rage), "Olan seni oldurecem 'lan" (I'm going to kill you)

The bigger jerks are the people living in stolen houses and complain that he stole a flag that shouldnt have been there in the first place.

I'll tell you who the bigger jerks are. People like yourself who comment without thought. Welcome to the forum anyway.

Even bigger jerks are those which use the illegal airport of Larnaka which is built on stolen Turkish Cypriot land.

REad the constitution of Republic of Cyprus. U will see that Turkish Flag can be used along side with Republic of Cyprus and Greek flags. Oops sorry I forgot that Republic of Cyprus Constitution is just a piece of paper.

Still despite all this, Matsakis earned at least some of my respect by returning the flag. He had the decency not to desecrate it.

A similar incident happened in 1996 during the Kardak crisis. Here is a description from the news report of the time:

Quote: After the Turkish ship left, a round of "flag wars" broke out with the mayor of Kalymnos planting the Greek flag. Turkish journalists then showed up by helicopter on Saturday, took down the Greek flag and raised the Turkish.

Meanwhile, Greece has explained its discomfort with "several overzealous
Turkish reporters" who came to island to hang the Turkish flag.

Do you know what happened to the greek flag taken down by the turkish journalists?

Same Constitution says VICE president of Republic of Cyprus should be Turkish Cypriot but ...?
