hello everyone, :D
i dont know it its been discussed before, but

does anyone know how/where one could take Turkish lessons (in the south preferably)?

i checked at the university and they say they only do company group like lessons for non students which basically means they DON'T do them.( unless we register talk cyprus as a company hih)

em i know that there were courses at gardash but when ever i go its closed.i should try again.

but i was wondering if and of you know anything about it or even better if anyone else is interested for summer courses maybe we could find someone together etc.

obviously,the best case would be to have language exchanges lessons for freeeee(!!!!) with some Greek speakers wanting to learn Turkish and some Turkish speakers learning Greek?

I believe the right person to answer your questions is the member MicAtCyp. I think he participated in such a course in South.

He also used to give Turkish lessons to others on the Cyprus Talks MSN group as far as I remember.

I think the government (most likely ministry of education) is running evening courses in various subjects, like photography, etc., which are open to any Cypriot. They may have also Turkish.

i guess pg might be right.
try the goerment. they offer those cources at the beggining of the school season. epimorfotika - or whateve they call them.

or else, private teacher. ask around, cyprus is a small place :wink:

I attended Turkish lessons organized by the UN which started a couple of months before the referendum.The interest shown was amazing.Two classes of 30 people, all excited about the prospect of reunification.Greek lessons were also held in adjacent classrooms for T/Cs who showed even more interest to learn Greek.We mingled during breaks, talked and loughed, went out for drinks after lessons etc.We were all so sure about the result you see....After the referendum, the next thursday that a class was held almost half the people, both G/cs and T/Cs didnt turn up. Six months later there were only a few people in each class.The excitement and willingness to learn each other's lunguage fizzled out like everything else...Can anybody tell me how ro say "tear stained face" in turkish..??? :? :roll:

the department of Turkish studies used to deal with Turkish language lessons but now since the language center was made they dont. the language center only gives language lessons to non-university students.
