This is eaten by Turkish Cypriot all the time, it can be boiled or done in the oven or a combimation of both.
Lambs/sheeps head is delicious and my favourite part is the tongue but i also like the brain with lemon and salt but i must mention that the cheeks are so good that they melt in your mouth.
Do Greek Cypriot like this too and anyone out there tried this before. |

My wife won't go for it and the few times i convinced her to make it she did accept to try the tongue and really liked it but the brain really made her feel ill, as for my kids they both love the tongue and cheeks but get freaked out at the eyes.  |

i know that Greek Cypriots do eat it too...dont know how often tho.
The only time ive come across it was at easter in cyprus, when my grandmother was eating the head whilst we had more or less the rest of the lamb that had been on the spit :D |

I think you all need psychological intervention for eating that stuff...
My first experience of a Cypriot family was being chased around the garden by my wife's uncle, with a lambs eye on a fork in one hand and its head in the other... absolutely gross...
Give me some black pudding any day  |

I'm alright with eating brain, but what I can't stand at all, is the eyes. Sometimes also in fish restaurants you get them served on a separate plate as a delicacy.
However, the whole food issue is a matter of taste, religion and getting used to it.
I mean in Asia they eat dog and ape, in Europe we don't. In some areas people eat horse which others would never do. Christians eat pork, muslims don't. Indians eat no beef and the list goes on and on..... |

We have a family tradition for Easter: After "kalos logos" (the midnight service) we get together at my grandmother's house, and eat avgolemoni soup with lamb's head, along with flaouna and red eggs. For me, it's delicious, but I also can't stand eating the eye ;-)
We might eat lamb's head at other times, too, but not very often. |

I remember eating the stuff when I was a kid in Mersin and I loved the cheeks. The rest you can forget about. Brains, Eyes Tongue forget about it. There is also the prospect of a head with two eyes staring at you sitting on the table. |
