Did anyone in the UK watch the programme on Channel5 last night 'Million Calorie Diet'? It followed Crazylegs Conti, a window cleaner from New York as he tried to get a break in the 'competitive eating' scene (yes, it does exist!). It was absolutely hilarious, firstly he entered competitive oyster eating competitions, which he excelled at and set an 'endurance record' by eating 34-dozen oysters in three hours. Then he decided to 'go pro' and join the International Federation of Competitive Eating (IFOCE), trying to qualify for the Coney Island grand finals, to compete alongside the legendary Japanese competitive eater Takeru Kobyashi, who held the world record of 50 hot dogs in 12 minutes. It followed Crazylegs as he competed in regional qualifiers in the hot dog 'event'.
If you do ever get to watch it, I'd highly recommend it, it was the funniest programme I've watched for a long, long time.
P.S. here is the link to the International Federation of Competitive Eating... worth a look...  |

It was the funniest thing ever... it was amazing how a tiny 60kg Japanese guy could pack 50 hot dogs down his neck... he must have been totally full... according to the IFOCE website, there's a women currently ranked number 2 in the world, she weighs even less... unsurprisingly, most of the competitors are listed as 'single'   |

Probably scare of potential mates with that sort of eating ability, they must think "it will take all day to cook and feed this greedy sod'.  |
