Hi all

I have had a pretty busy (and scary) night making changes to the forum - adding features.

We now have a spell checker that some people have asked for. If you do not wish to use it then just hit 'submit' as normal when making a post (see PS below). If you wish to use it hit the 'spell check' button. It should be pretty self explanatory. It does slow posting down a bit and contain some 'advertisements' but right now I have no idea how to remove it :) so let's see how we all get on with it. If it is a real pig I will remove it.

PS. I have just realised that there is now a setting in your user profile related to spell checking. The "Always check Spelling before posting:" option defaults to yes but you can change it to no if you prefer.

Secondly I have added the 'Card Hack' add on to the forum

What this means for most users is that there is a little blue box in the top right hand corner of each post that you can use to automatically report that post to the mod(s) of that forum section (which atm is me). I will then get an email telling me who has report the post, how many times it has already been reported and a link to the offending post.
A second 'feature' is that mods (again that's just me atm) can award users 'yellow cards' as warnings. These show up in the users profile to the left of their posts. Have a look at the user test here for an example

When a user exceeds a threshold of warnings (currently 10) they are automatically banned ! So be be nice people ;)

Finally I have added a mod that will block registration and access from 'open' (anonymous) proxies. This should not affect any 'legitimate' users. If it does cause any problems for such user they will have to email as they will not have access to the forums unless the remove the use of the open proxy in their browser settings. This add on has been added to 'protect' the forums from would be trouble makers.

PPS I have disabled the aphrodite green style as no one seemed to like it and it did interfere (very slightly) with the site modifications.

uuhh, the blue report button is very close to the quote button, one need to be careful. :wink:

re. the dictionary I don't think its really necessary to implement it in the site. I always have one open on another tab anyway. I think thats well feasible for everyone imo.
