This exhibition is taking place close to my father-in-law's shop on Ledra Street, so he's told me all about it. I hope it will still be there on December 20th when I land in CY for Chrimbo. There was an interesting perspective on this exhibition in Cyprus Today, that I thought might interest people. You can find the full article at:

But I thought this paragraph would be of greatest interest. Remembering that this article was written by an Englishman resident in the north.
Quote: Arthus-Bertrand's dream was to visit the world's last divided country to photograph all of Cyprus, but problems with the military meant he could not photograph in the North. Aerial views of the coastline 30 years ago would be the most interesting comparison with today. We have to imagine the buildings spreading in all directions, piles of excavated earth, giant mole hills from frantic digging. The pattern of lemon plantations, dominant 30 years ago, is disrupted, and in many cases has disappeared. On the south side of the mountain range long pinkish scars show the quarrying of stone. Traffic is stalled for kilometres in a world where a quarter of all energy produced globally is absorbed by transportation, leading to greenhouse gas emissions. More top-range BMWs are sold — per capita — in North Cyprus than in any other country in the world. More arable land is replaced by concrete — relative to population — than in any other country in the world. Achievements which could only happen here. |

| I know a person who is involved in this project and only yesterday she told me that it finishes on November 20. Its quite interesting and since you are going to miss it I'll save a magazine for you that goes with it. |
