Hi Erol,
There have been numerious flag designs by forum members. I think it would be nice to collect them in an album. That way we can see them all in one place and we can add future designs in there as well. Is it possible to have an album section for Cyprus flag designs? |

I just posted my idea in the album, might take a while before it's approved by Erol.
Basically it's based upon the Cyprus coat of arms, which is still used by both the Republic of Cyprus and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus administrations, albeit with different years given for the foundation year of the state. Given that this has remained a common symbol, why not use it for the new state? I've changed the year to read 2008, which I agree with Alex L in another thread is the earliest that any substantive negotiations could reach fruition. |

| Cannedmoose, what do you mean by Cyprus coat of arms? You mean that pigeon and olive branches thingy where both Republic of Cyprus and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus uses in the passports. The one Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus uses has a crescent and star at the top of it though, correct? I think that's a great idea. |

I think it's a dove of peace rather than a mere flying rat (pigeon)...
Yes, that's exactly what I mean, but without any political/religious additions such as crosses/crescents/stars of David etc. etc.
You're also right that both sides retain the symbol as an official coat of state, so why not incorporate it. I posted the flag in the albums section a few hours ago, not sure if Erol's around at the moment, but I'm sure it will be up there for general viewing soon. |

Speaking as an exasperated xenos, I have to admit sometimes Cypriots live up to that title...
Then again, I'd hesitate to imply that Zulu represents a negative, I've read quite a lot of stuff about the Zulu and appreciate what a great warrior civilisation they once were... like the guerkha on acid. |

Not implying being Zulu is a bad thing. However i would of thought they taught the British a lesson. Just because you have the biggest guns does not mean you will win the war.
The Zulus
EOKA
Iraqis
Afghans
The list can go on for ages |

Not sure that the list can go on for ages re... anyway, no need to get into that debate here. |
