|
Moderators will not edit any posts
Moderators will not delete any posts.
If a moderator considers a post contains something unacceptable they will move the post to a special 'quarantine' area of the forum. The forum area will allow members (but not guests) to view the 'qurantined' posts but no one will be able to add any comments to these posts. The moderator who decides to quarantine a post will inform the poster that the post has been quarantined and which sections of it they think are unacceptable. If the poster chooses to modify or remove the unacceptable parts the post will be returned to the thread from which it originated in. If they choose not to modify it it will stay in quarantine section of the forum.
Examples of unacceptable posts would include, insulting and abusive language, post designed to incite hatred, posts not in english, spam posts advertising dodgy products or websites.
This is how I propose we run the moderation of the forum, at least for an inital trial period, and see how it goes. The above is designed to walk the fine line between freedom of speach and promting and protecting rational debate in the forum going and free from spurious posts. What do people think? I need your input on this please. |

Sounds ok but an offensive post is should only be left in quarantine for a set amount of time. If a Moderator and the Member cannot resolve the issue, what happens then? I don't think that the post should be left in quarantine indefinitely.
Your views?
Everything else in your post Erol sounds fine. |

Sounds feasible to me Erol.
re. PTGs question: I think it could remain there, and maybe the quarantined posts could be stored there per member. This will allow an additional "judgement" on who is constantly or repeatedly posting such stuff. |

We could put a time limit on how long quarantine posts remain there before being deleted entirely. That is up to us to decide really.
PS thanks for the input. |

| Just to give my tuppence worth... I agree entirely with the procedures you've outlined there Erol. In terms of permanent quarantine, I'm also in agreement with PTG that there should be a time limit on them. If I can suggest a time limit of one month, that should prevent that section getting clogged up and also gives the poster ample opportunity to amend. |

I think this quarantine should only be viewable to members. Not give the site a bad name.
Also some kind if automatic PM telling people their post has been moved |

| Agreed with Erol and also agreed with PTG but i feel the time span should be 6 months or this poster could just wait a month and do the same thing hence i feel that what City said makes sense too, usually within 6 months you can see what sort of poster they are and if they are doing it repeatedly it's there to point out to them. |

There seems to be general acceptance of the moderation rules / guidelines (or at least no complaints about them), so we willuse these are the site moderation guidelines for now. We can review them later if and when this becomes necessary.
I will now move onto the next stage, which is seeking member approval of specific mods. I will start a poll on each of these. Please take the time cast your votes. Thank you. |
