Romania bird flu tests negative
EU veterinary experts have concluded that the bird flu virus is not present in Romania, after talks in Brussels.

Officially yes, unofficially no. I saw a BBC report earlier from one of the areas affected. Health officials had come along and bagged all the local chickens apparently... however, as the reporter was speaking, a hen ran across the road behind her so obviously some are still roaming around... all it takes is one infected bird and it will continue to spread. |

They have also banned wild bird hunting in a bid to contain it. |

| Reports are emerging that in Romania more cases have been identified and it is the deadly strain and also Croatia is also reporting that they have found many dead birds and investigations are being carried out. |
