I was also reading in Kathimerini (Greek newspaper) a couple of days ago that 30 dead chickens were found floating in a lake in the Peleponnese. No indications yet that this was bird flu...

It seems the panic is on in the EU as they are now assuming that Romania despite having the milder form of the virus has been banned from export too.

Officially yes, unofficially no. I saw a BBC report earlier from one of the areas affected. Health officials had come along and bagged all the local chickens apparently... however, as the reporter was speaking, a hen ran across the road behind her so obviously some are still roaming around... all it takes is one infected bird and it will continue to spread.

They have also banned wild bird hunting in a bid to contain it.
