Design a flag acceptable to both communities

well, I will have to disagree with you there 100% Cypriot. I can see the benefits of including the 'national' colours in a common flag, but I think the advantages of not including them outweigh those of including them. Hence, I will go with cannedmoose's proposition. ( although I think the 2008 under it looks silly, just don't put any date ). However, I would understand some people who wouldn't want the coat of arms on the flag as it is reminiscent of the Republic of Cyprus,

But the colours are fine, how about this ( and this time no Jamaica and no azure or whatever to confuse people.. I honestly did not want to rouse anger with it though, beleive me if you wish )

green for the fertile land / prosperity, gold for the sun / hospitality, white for peace above all

prosperity - hospitality - peace .. doesnt sound bad to me

I think we can all agree, that the colours of any cyprus flag should have white, green/olive, and yellow/gold/copper on it.....no red or blue.

I agree wholeheartedly..no red and no blue. I do still like the concept of including the Island on it - not necessarily a large feature in the middle but something subtle - similar to the way the Maltese cross on the flag of Malta is displayed on the top left hand corner. We are proud of our Island so I think it should feature on the new flag..

All these represent Cyprus don't they!
I say keep sex and violence off the street and back in the bedroom where it belongs!

I think this one looks boring. Could be any country. If the effort is made to design a new flag I would prefer something unique and special. Not just another flag with three stripes. Sorry, no offence meant here.

The display of the island on the current flag f.e. is such an unique design imho. No other country in the world has the shape of the country on its flag.

I also agree with Dhavlos on the white/green/copper color set.

All the above flags are really ugly, i think the Republic of Cyprus on should be kept but with some minor changes here and there. But the colours and design should certainly be the same.
