I have said that before as well, its really a well designed flag. Compared to mine, .. mine is a banana. It is unfortunate it can not be used, but I can understand that.
100%cypriot... really, stop whining. I explained myself regarding the choice of colours several times. If you are looking for a more neutral flag you can hang your dirty underwear.
Now, I am going to ask you this again and for the last time, please answer the question: azure for sea, red for what? |
Now why do you have to get all personal about my underwear ? Maybe i don't wear any ! REd could be for The inside of a melon or a tomato, etc etc , do i realy have to sit here and think about anything red, Just drop the blue and you can get rid of the red as well, i have no problem with that. or combine the both of them. everything allways leans to one side with you obviously i don't need to state which side you lean to
And you haver never heard me whine, just ask for Justice |

OH YES>> WHY DIDNT I THINK ABOUT THAT? what a genius.. fantastic.. yes I've got it ..what an inspiration! Thats it.. lets not think about it.. actually lets not think! Amazing, no problems.. no stress
How about THIS as a Cyprus flag.. I am confident in YOUR vote:
heck it even shows BOTH communities, divided but united at the core!
AMAZING! Go for president! If not, at least for prime minister! Great potential here! |

Oh My God you could pass for a Greek Cypriot any Day. Probably your hatred for anything resembling Turkish People gives it away. |

I am going to throw my 10 cents in as well and say that I also agree about the blue. Granted, blue is the colour of the sky and the sea BUT it is a contentious colour to the Turkish Cypriot community (as it is representative of the hellenic flag of Greece). I also appreciate that the same applies to the colour red in the eyes of the Greek Cypriot community - I personally do not agree that red symbolises blood or bloodshed. To me it symbolises passion, to others it represents something entirely differerent, namely danger, so of course everyone has a different opinion and viewpoint.
I also prefer the idea of having something completely neutral with no red and no blue considering both stir up mixed emotions.. |

Looks like the French flag...viva la Chypre?! I am in favour of the Island being displayed on the flag though..and what I like about the current Republic of Cyprus flag is that there are no stripes/lines or divisions. Shame it doesn't represent the whole Island and both communities.. |

Leyla and it was designed BY a Turkish Cypriot! Can you believe it and yet the Turkish Cypriot look at it with a Greek domination factor:
BUT if it is so then there should be a new design:BUT have ones country on the flag actually shows people what the country looks like:
What would be Good IF the Turkish Cypriot agree is something that has Cyprus on it and maybe the EU Stars around it as well as some Red for the Turkish Cypriot:
cheers |

if Turkish Cypriots used the Republic of Cyprus flag as the flag of the 'Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus', then there would not have been this problem of the flag belonging to the 'Greek Cypriots'. Cos it would also have belonged to the Turkish Cypriots!
sadly, the divisive policy of denktash (therefore the Turkish Cypriots administration) meant that the Turkish Cypriots adopted a new flag.
im not saying this is gospel, im just having bit of a rant
personaly, i like the Republic of Cyprus flag....its original!, and to be honest, anything else would create problems (as we can see!) |

That's the problem Turkish Cypriots do not associate themselves with your flag, it only reminds them of our dark past which they would rather try to forget. |

I prefer my other attempt...

It's based on the Cyprus coat of arms, which both sides have continued to use, albeit with some amendments by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus side (the addition of a crescent and star at the top). |

Ok fair enough the other one is not bad also but only a suggestion but try getting rid of the yellow and put the blue and red either side, it might look good, |
