Merchant, can you possible suggest us some good speech to text software packages, so that we will avoid all this typing and simply dictate to the computer what want to say and have it typed for us like a secretary would do? I know there are some, but those I have tried do not seem to work properly. |
hahaha.. the holy grail. no, i am afraid there are none which really do the job 'good'. The existing (sophisticated) STT software rely heavily on neural networks and neural networks can take you so far, not to say that there is no room for improvement. Thing is, you have to 'train' the software for it to 'learn' and 'adapt' to your speech. And even though you can train it for a long time, it won't be able to learn everything and will still do mistakes. And if you try making it 'universal' oh boy.. you better not expect a large 'vocabulary'. |
When you have found that one find something that can talk for us without us moving our lips as well
Kifeas stop being lazy re !! |

Hi,
I have just started searching for my lost familiy history. My grandfather was Alkiviades Paraskevas Michaelides and he was born in Cyprus, around 1914. His father was Paraskevas Michaelides and he was a cloth dyer. Alkiviades married my grand mother Irene Denne in 1938 in Bath, UK. My mother Sally was born five years later. Alkiviades was possibly in the RAF, but he may also have worked in catering, and may have played a musical instument. He was possibly also know as Angelo or Arthur. We know nothing about him or when or where he died. My grandmother never talked about him to my mother at all. I would love to find out anything at all, such as if the names have meanings or are linked to any particular region. I am also starting to learn about the history of Cyprus and plan to visit next year.
Many thanks,
Andrew |

Hi Andeww and welcome to the forum
I would imagine that when you visit Cyprus and go to his village that is where the older generation would be able to point you in the right direction and even know something, but fate may have a surprise and one of our many members know of him.
Good luck. |

Hi Brother,
Thanks for your well wishes and welcome. We don't even know his village - and I realise that I would have to be very lucky to stumble across some specific knowledge. but I have hope - and, as with my visit, I feel that if I can't know specifics, what I can do is just get some sense of where part of me comes from.
Thanks again,
Andrew |

| Cyprus is only a small island, shouldnt be too much trouble tracing his family name to a village or town. Good luck. |

Hello all,
Our names are Conor and Michaela we have 2 daughters aged 5 & 10.
We were to move to Frenaros August 2006 but because of problems with Christoforos Karayiannas & Son Ltd that’s all delayed.
I am going to post that story in the General discussion board soon.
But I've got to read the forum rules etc first.
For those who can't wait, you can veiw our website link in my profile.
This whole experience is just a setback and not a cancellation of our move to Cyprus. We still intend to settle in the Frenaros / Paralimni area.
Cheers

Hello everyone!
I I'm new in here, so let me introduce myself. My name is Elena. I'm Russian living in Cyprus. I'm sorry for my mistakes, as I really do a lot ot them, cause english is not my native language. I like to live in Cyprus. May be it's a little bit small place and I want to be in bigger place to feel myself in the big city, but sometimes I enjoy to stay here in such quite and peacefull ireland. I came here after I finished university and got master degree in IT. Now I work in real estate business as real estate broker. I love music and my favorite band is Aerosmith, I'm dreaming about visiting of their concert. I hope to have a good chat here and to find a new friends. I'm married and it would be nice to have a friendship with other families.
Best wishes,
Elena. |
