Hi everyone, I am just passing the message. I hope to see you all there.
Not too long ago there has been a divided country with a divided capital in Europe that no one ever thought will leave its past behind and reunite in peace. But it did. Every Sunday evening, people walked out onto the streets with a candle. NOT to demonstrate, but to express their sincere wish to live together as one. On the first Sunday there were only a few, on the second Sunday many more, until it became evident that everyone shared the same dream. A sea of candles in the end and a unity as a result. Germany 1989.
It may be only a dream, but if you can, join us and friends for the 2. candle light vigil on Sunday, April 13th, at 9pm (and every Sunday from there on) at the end of Ledra Street by the newly opened border crossing. A simple gesture of people wanting to connect their hearts and the desire to live united in peace.
The 1st candle light vigil caused huge excitement! Not only did a lot of Cypriots show up, but we had people with their candles from France, Canada, Germany, Lebanon, Italy, England, the US and India (see photos attached). This Sunday friends from both sides of the Green Line will hold their candle light vigil simultaneously at 9pm (feel free to join us on either side of the Green Line, but make sure you blow out your candle for security reasons while you are in the UN zone).
Come plentiful and forward this message to as many people as possible. Let's make the 2nd candle light vigil a break-through event as press will also be there to help us spread the message of peace and unity. All you need to bring is 30 minutes of your time, a candle, and a wish. Hope to see you Sunday.
