Go on england, not doing too badly, 168-4, but if they can hold on till the end of the day/tommorow, it will be looking good.!!!

Not sure what on earth is going on with this fifth test. England 373 all out in the first innings, with Australia currently on 277 for 2, so not bad. However, after a period of rain, followed by poor light, the Aussies have been offered the light and walked off the pitch for the day with just 6 overs left to bowl. They're also scoring very slowly, even though they need to win. I really don't understand what they're doing, this isn't the Australian team of old.

Still, not to complain, unless something calamitous happens for either side, this game will end in a draw meaning that England will win the Ashes. Very Happy

As my summary, I've been watching (and playing, albeit badly) cricket since I was knee-high to a grasshopper. This is the best Test series I've ever watched as it had almost everything - drama, humour, thrilling moments, great play by both sides - and all played in a great spirit of respect and friendship that makes cricket a sport of gentlemen as opposed to the spitting, self-important rabble that you watch in the Premiership every week. Even if England hadn't win, this series would stick in the memory for a long time for all these reasons.

However, England did win Shocked

, much to my surprise as I pitched it as a draw at the beginning of the series, which means that the Ashes have returned home for the first time in 18 years. A win over the Aussies in the Rugby World Cup, followed by a win in the Ashes... life doesn't get any sweeter.

So, let me recite the words of William Blake that should constitute my country's national anthem (as opposed to the jingoist 'Land of Hope and Glory'):
