Driving to Cyprus from the UK

Hello People
We are another couple decided to leave the country we were born in and Im sure these questions have come up many times before.

Can anyone please advise us can we drive a car to Cyprus?

Does anyone know of any company that needs a qualified electrician also trained in motor control systems.

Im sure you all have gone through the same experience when you decided to leave the UK and start a new life in Cyprus.
We would really appreciate all your help in this matter.

Thank you for your feed back. When I asked about driving I ment driving from England to Cyprus not driving in Cyprus (my mistake should have made it clearer).
I have looked at some of you other postings and can fully understand your anger and if I was in the same shoes as you, I would fel the same.
Unfortunately the whole world is coming to this and I dont think we can stop it.
On a brighter side I am not like the other expats you have met. When I move to Cyprus I want to learn the language and learn the culture just out of respect, I am the dtranger in thier country.
All I want is a better life for my wife and my self but also join the Cypriot community and hope they will class us as one of there own. Whether that be helping people, fighting wars, fighting poverty.
When we move to Cyprus we are not British we become Cypriot.

By the way we are moving to Paphos so that means Greek Cypriot.
If things dont change they remain the same.
The only constant thing in life is change.
If you are not happy over there and I am not happy over here. why dont we swop houses.
I tell you now you will not see any difference apart from in Cyprus you dont have people trying to bomb you, steal from you, tax you to the death, kill you when you go to hospital with MRSA, the weather and they dont serve ice cold keo

In addition to Louis Cruises that have a ferry service to the Republic of Cyprus there is (only) one other company that offer car ferries to the island. http://www.grimaldi.co.uk/

That's about it, no one else unfortunately.

Regarding jobs you must be aware that lots of qualified ex-pats are on the island and even though the economic situation is good and jobs are available you might encounter difficulties if you don't speak Greek. Of course depending on the job/employer. Cypriots in general have a very good education so they might be the first choice if any vacancies are to be filled in.
Maybe you better be looking for a job within the ex-pat community, for example with people that have set up their own business on the island.
And as Stavri said wages/salary are nowhere near the level you might know from the UK.

P.S. I like your attitude about learning the language and really become part of the local community.

Hey Paul I am not angry at all that foreigners come to Cyprus, in fact I am happy that they choose Cyprus to migrate. I like multiculturalism and I hope it opens the eyes of the locals, especially the right wingers of both sides to make them realise we are all the same shit.
