My point was not of sarcasm but of , how could a team that normally does not concede goals get so careless at home ?
Was the Euro win for greece a FLUKE ?
Or
Were they very calculated when they tottally shocked Europe.
Will heads roll in Greece for this defeat ? As the greek fans are very pasionate like the Turkish.
Also the History between the people maybe makes it inevitable that someone will pay for this defeat , as i think the match was more than a football match but one of national pride |

| I think they were simply outplayed. Maybe it was nerves I dont know, but I dont think they expected Turkey to play such attacking football, but that is what Fatih Terim does best. Tumer's goal was incredible, as was Gokdeniz, I was really chuffed for Turkey to see them playing like the 2002 world cup team again. |

| Its just a game guys, do not get over exited. Anyway, just as well Greece lost, otherwise we would have to live with another spate of stupid and reticulous nationalism had the Greeks won. |

It was a double whammy for Greece who was also celebrating their independence from the Ottomans in 1832. |

| apparently (not trying to give excuses lol) but i was told that the two main cypriot strikers had been injured, and couldnt play the game. Cyprus were the underdogs in that match before they started. Still, we still beat RoI 5-2! lol |

That was also the case for Turkey. While Greece had its complete team available, Turkey was missing some major players. So I have heard. |

Yes lot of good players injured. Tekke, Altintop, Basturk, Emre suspended, youngsters like Arda and Sahin also injured.
I am surprised there has been no coverage of the treatment of the Turkish team. Racist banners, flagpoles, bottles, flares thrown at players. Terim was hit by a bottle on his head as he clapped at the end. The goalkeeper was pelted throughout the game. I read on Kathimerini Greece may be penalised with at least one game behind an empty stadium.
Though papers are saying Turkey also received some applause from the stadium at the end. |
