a swimmer (called pelentritou) in the para-olympics won a gold medal...

and as for the old ages.... in a museum in munich before the olympics of 2004 , there was the list of all the winners of the 100m of the olympics of the ancient times... one of them was from kyrenia Smile

so , we were not all of the time sitting in a circle Wink

Not the first time that Pelentritou hasn't been recognised (a Cypriot who has actually won something... compare this to Marcos who... hasn't).

To be honest, the Cyprus government should hang its head in shame for failing to recognise paralympic achievement equally with olympic. I still find it rather strange why KOA spends vast amounts of money on cars etc. for so-called 'top athletes' (i.e. those who win national championships), rather than investing said money in developing youth sports across the island through investment in coaching. A personal bugbear but until this is recognised, Cypriot athletes will continue to be marginal on the international stage. Does anyone really think Pagdatis would be where he is today if he had remained in Cyprus?
