I am convinced that the magority of these EU heads of states are complete...... hand relief and they don't know there arse from their heads, you make a deal then you go back on it (namely France) then you make promises and one year on you still have not done anything, the EU at the moment seems like the blind leading the blind headed by some serious clowns who couldn't manage a piss up in a brewery. drink

Brother,

Quite frankly, Turkey is the one that is forcing the issue. Her non recognition of the RoCy and her refusal to allow ships to enter Turkish ports goes against her obligations towards the EU. Remember, this is not a union of equals. It is Turkey wanting to join the EU, not the other way around.

Nobody is saying that talks won't begin on 3rd of October. What will happen though is that they won't progress!

Well mikkie i support Turkey on not recognising the Republic of Cyprus as it does NOT represent the whole of cyprus or cypriots as it is at the moment, if not progressing is what will happen to Turkey, then so be it, when tassos decides to sit down and negotiate then we will progress but the Turkish Cypriot will never accept the Republic of Cyprus as it is today as the sole goverment of cyprus.

Well, that's fine then brother. Perhaps then it would be in the best interests of the Turkish Cypriots to demand their place in the RoCy and look after their own interests first ahead of those of Turkey. It seems to me that is where things will eventually lead to. The Turkish Cypriots will be faced with stark choices further down the line - Eu membership and all the benefits it brings or be permanently linked to Turkey with all the 'benefits' that will entail.

For the Turkish Cypriot to demand anything we first need tassos aka Mr.oxi to sit down and negotiate with Talat, who has constantly tried to approach Mr.oxi with no success, he even made an issue out of an unofficial coffee to melt barriers.

Austria are the next EU presidents at the start of 2006, i forsee some troubled times ahead for Turkey as the Austrians are known racists when it comes to turks hence their always predictable comments of stopping the turks at the gates of vienna.
