Demetre, you obviously weren't subtle enough... I still have access... o
I'm planning a last hurrah when I know that lots of people are online and will thus be able to read my post before they get removed and I get banned. In the meantime, I'm going to contact people and get email addresses to let them know privately about this forum. |

I too was summarily banned, after the admin had told in a pm he would not do so.
Seems like the idea that you can be a member of both forums is something the admin on cypforum does not agree with |

I don't get it...
Why do you plan to do that? What is your grievance? And how is that any better than what all those pricks in the other forum have been doing all this time?

Erm...
Did you really expect him to agree, erol? |

Jimmy, as far as I'm concerned the Admin is not being even-handed, he's quick to ban Turkish extremists at the drop of a hat, yet Chomsky et al. are rapidly destroying all rational discussion on the forum. My intention is not to slag off the forum itself, I think it was once a great place, but without action on the part of admin to remove this disruptive element, it's no longer that place. I won't slag anyone off beyond these extremists, I'll just announce my departure and welcome anyone who wants a proper chat across to here. It's their choice, if they choose to come, all well and good, if they don't, I'm sure we'll attract new members here anyway. |

I explained what I was doing and why to the admin. I explained why I thought there need be no conflict between the two sites. How they served different needs. I explained why if did not want to banned from there (that I had contact info and other stuff in pms to me that I did not have elsewhere). The admin said via pm that they understood why I was doing what I did (though did not agree it was necessary) and that they would not ban me.
They then went and banned me with no notifcation at all.
I thought there was a high chance that setting up this forum would cause me to be banned from there (though there is no rule saying this that I know of?). However in my view if the admin was going to ban he should have said so dirctely and not lied to me.
Still , time to move on. |

@cannedmoose: I see. OK, I just thought you were planning on doing something more radical.
Quick thought, though: say you post your email address in there, and you invite anyone who wants a proper chat to email you so you can tell them of this place. Who's to say you won't get an email from Chomsky, claiming to be... erm... city? |

I'd never post my email in there... I'd only send it to someone via PM. |

Anyone is free to join here under any user name. If they abuse that they will be banned. If they try and join again they will be blocked via their IP. I will not allow users to use the forum via proxy servers (legitimate or not).
Total protection against 'destroyers' is not possible but it IS possible to do a lot more to protect the forums from such people that was done on cyforums - as long as there is the will to do so. |

| Erol, are you planning to have the 'probationary' period in place? I think that would protect us from spammers, extremists and the like. I know if the forum takes off it could be difficult to monitor, but if you need any assistance in keeping track of new members posts just say the word. |

I am taking things pretty much one day at a time right now. I do not want to do anything 'special' right now - but as and when necessary i WILL do everything in my power to protect this forum form 'destroyers and extremists with an agneda to undermine and destroy' |

Hahahaaaaa, Admin's removed me as a moderator...
He must have resented my telling him that his forum was going down the pan and driving real members away... once that's happened and he's left with just extremists, let's see how many posts a day appear on there... sad, but oh well |
