Here here!!
I'd say we're European, Eastern Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, etc...but hasn't that kind of been our 'downfall' in a way?? Even though I'm damn proud of all of those things!! |

It seems... You can learn from history, or you just wipe it "clean"
I have hopes that Turkey, is resolved to export its distinctiveness in exchange, with its European contemporaries. As such, recognition of the Republic of Cyprus, is necessary, and the reform of the Republic's Constitution is essential.
Cyprus is the crossroad to three continents, long before there were Nations. It is thus, the crossroad for all world religions, communication, and social-exchange, today. Cypriots have adapted over this period, having the benefit of so many choices, to produce a way of living which is highly refined. This spirit of enterprise may have had its influence from Europe, but I am convinced that, in part, it is the other way around. I still am convinced that villagers in Cyprus, were cooperators, long before Toad Lane.
Turks are Europeans, whose Asian influence was overwhelming, while Cypriots are Oriental, having an overwhelming European influence. |

Yes I think what we are Euroasians but the last days with the church election bullshits I feel 100% Arab.
Our politic system is more European but our politicians (especially DIKO EVROKO-LOI) are more like Turkoaraboasians.
Our priests are 100% Jews is the same guys that have cross this pure guy Jesus.
And generally our culture is still more close to Middle East standards.
I’m glad about the 50% who decided to not vote our mental pimps (priests) I see this as very good improvement. |

i'm Euroasian Eurocypriot like you but I’m used to accept reality and not be proud for something just to be.
As about the religion I’m an agnostic like Protagoras and I hate Judaist religions and especially Muslims and Orthodox Christians because of their middle ages situation. |

You can’t be a Christian and Greek you are a Greek because it happens to speak Greek, Cypriots are a mix of population and their only connection with Greek culture is the misshapen language.
Your are a GreekChsritian Judaist in religion and a assirioegyptianoturkogreek and many others in origin.
I can’t be proud about the origin of Christian and of Greek (in the percentage that I’m in blood) because the Judaochristian culture was destroyed the Greek one and because this two cultures is opposite things. I can’t even be proud about my Greek origin alone because the origin does not have any meaning and it not comes with some god gifts, I can only be proud about my self and I do not search in Socrates and Protagoas to find something is not mine. And I do not excuse the madman’s and the criminals of my race because of a religion and I’m not proud about Cypriots of today while we have all this paranoiac Judaist pimps for mental leaders.
The nationalistic view is a mental disease that has cause as a lot of problems that make me to feel more and more shame about my origin.
Our culture is based on our Paranoiac Judaist past that is a totally strange tradition comes from Asia but can be improved if we stop loving mindlessly our past. |

Heard the song:
"Turning Japanisesa"? Maybe it was written for Cypriot Asians:
My father has a cousin from Lapithos called
O CHINEZOS!
cheers! |

The statement in bold can be considered offensive, what do you mean? Are Arabs and Turks backward and Europeans better than them? I hate these presumptions, in fact I think certain aspects of Arab Turkish culture are more advaced than European culture. |

So have we come to a conclusion?
I would say that there are two ways you can look at it: 1) Cyprus is in Asia so therefore we are Asians (which really isn't a false statement to make at all); or 2) We have a mixed culture of Middle Eastern (Asian) and European influences, and are geographically the gateway to three continents, thus we are transcontinental Eurasians.
I think both statements are completely correct. However being Eurasian is being Asian. Being Middle Eastern is also being Asian. Middle Eastern is just a more in-depth description of 'what kind of Asian' we are (i.e. Oriental is describing a different kind of Asian, as does Scandinavian a specific kind of European). In a broad sense, yes, we are Asian, which can be narrowed down to Middle Eastern if you prefer being more specific so as to not confuse with South Asian or Oriental. European is also correct if you look at politics and cultural influences. I would prefer Middle Eastern to European, though.
So then my fellow Eurasian Middle Eastern mongrel Kypraious, anyone fancy agreeing with me?
Leon. |
