Mad! Most of my mother in law's family live there, including Yia Yia. We will probably visit when we come out in September for our wedding.

It is a small world - wonder if the families know each other? Probably!

Sorry to hear this KLB, if you excuse my candour I'd say that your friends are somewhat ignorant if they feel this way. My parents are moving lock, stock and barrel to Cyprus next week, so I can assure you that the situation in Lebanon is not affecting stability in Cyprus and the 'refugees' are mostly expat Westerners... the poor Lebanese people are still suffering at home, hemmed in from all sides by the relentless Israeli onslaught.

If your friends are too ill-advised to believe this, that's their problem and they'll miss a lovely wedding.

My fiance is really angry with his friends and so am I. We both watch the news and are keeping up to date on everything going on so we know that Cyprus is not dangerous. They will regret this decision immensely....I feel more sad about the situation as a whole and hope that a ceasefire is in sight.

Thing is we are bothered - but more so because we know it's probably the wife's doing (she's a control freak)....and lots of our English friends can't make it. Still, I'm just looking forward to the day itself - the Cypriots are more lively anyway!!! Laughing

PS Don't get me started on the Catherine Tate Show...! Have you seen the Russet House sketch....that's more me!
