I've decided to make an official Wimbledon thread (just like the World Cup one) in support of Marcos Baghdatis.

Baghdatis (seeded 18th) is set to play Britain's Alan Mackin (who's on a wild card) but I don't think we'll get information on when he plays until tomorrow....(hope it's on Friday 30th because thats when I'm going!)

Well...good luck to him Smile

I have a feeling this thread will be short...

I think Marocs needs some mental training to deal with the 'success'.

You never know..he has a lot of "weapons" in his collection and he fights hard, especially as an underdog - it's whether he is geared up for it mentally more than anything.. I'm keen to see how Roger Federer deals with his French Open final loss against Nadal as well and whether it has knocked his confidence - I doubt it.

I have tickets to the Ladies semi finals next week - would have preferred the men's but I mustn't grumble Very Happy

When he played the final in Melbourne I was convinced that even if he does not win it then, he will win some Grand Slam later on - he has many years to go.

I still believe the same thing. However, I also think he needs to learn how to not be the underdog..., and most likely that has not been part of the academy so far.

Yes I also agree, I don't think he has the belief he can go all the way yet but he has lots of time to improve..

As for the British guys..well Tim Henman isn't getting past the first week for sure - he plays today and if he wins will be set to play Rog Fed - will be a great match but he will have his bags packed next to his seat for sure. I also hope Andre Agassi does well as it's his last Wimbledon as well Sad

Thanks Cyprus rules!

The problem is that Marcos Baghdatis isn't a grass player, so Wimbledon might be difficult for him but we can still hope...

Anway, what's wrong in being the underdog Wink worked for Greece in Euro 2004!

i'll come find you on friday Smile
When do you finish work? Whenever I go we always queue up for centre court tickets after 5pm, you know when it costs £5. It's really good..last year we ended up seeing Henman and Nadal.

I have my Cypriot flag heh but doubt i'll actually see a match of his... Wink

I nearly had a heart attack when I watched the match, I joined it late and the score was 6-4 7-6 7-6 and the other player was wining the 4th set 3-0! I honestly thought that after his injury he would lose, or pull out! Thank god he stuck in there!! I hope he's feeling better for his next match...Smile

I think his girlfriend has sucked all his protein out of him: It happened to me once with 2 twin sisters back at Sunbury Pop Festival of 78:
It took me ages to recover:
So I hope he has the power to go after Federer!
cheers
