Hello Cypriots!!
This will be my 5Th stay on your superb island!
This time I'm taking my parents along, so i'm after staying in the old town end of limassol because i think there partying days are over!!
Is there anyone out there that could recommend a place to stay either self catering or possibly half board if the food is recommended.
Thanks for your time!
Dan. |

Hi Dan,
Can't really think of anything "nice" in the old town when it comes to accommadation, I would think if you stayed in the Holiday Inn which is a nice hotel situated on the beach and just a 5 minute drive from the old town you would probably be better off.
There are lovely little taverna's all over the place in the old town and one of my favorites is the Meze Taverna (209 St. Andrews street), cute little place, family run and wonderful food.
Hope you have a great stay (weathers already over 26 degrees ) |

Hi Dan you will enjoy Cyprus: The Castles, Ancient ruins and the atmosphere:
I don't know about accommodation because I am from Melbourne Australia: BUT I am sure something will turn up:
Always look at the back streets for a nice tavern: Most of the ones near the beach are for rubber becks: If you are staying a while take your fishing rod and put a float on it and a number 10 Long Shank hook: Buy a couple of fresh prawns/shrimps from a fish shop and go fishing on the Pier:Throw a bit of bread in to bring the fish: Great fishing in Cyprus:
If that doesn't work use a piece of dynamite like my Uncle Zenon used in the old days BUT be-careful they don't think your a terrorist!
cheers and have a drink for me! |

My uncle and his mate use to dynamite fish and one fateful morning they decided to drink and fish and his mate lit the dynamite put it into a bottle to throw but decided to have a sip more of wine before he threw the dynamite, he threw the wine in the sea in his drunken confusion and the dynamite exploded blowing his arm off. |

Are there very few places to stay in the old town? That might be the reason I'm finding it difficult to find some where!

Theres quite a few places to stay. The Alasia is another one. The thing is I dont stay in a hotel there so i'm a bit out of touch about wheres good. My family's friends stay at the Chrielka. Another is the Blue Crane, but thats in the touristy bit.
The Blarney Stone is on the coast road and its v. cheap. I drink in barfly (it's unmarked, opposite Graffiti on St. Andrews st.) Theres a few nice bars by the Castle. Some are a touch pricey, others not so. Draughts actually make some of their own beers on the premises, so thats a novel thing. Just after barfly theres a good cafe- its called 147. Still within a 10 m radius, theres an excellent restaurant for meze, Mr. Diomedes runs it but i can't for the life of me remember what its called. If you walk past Graffiti towards the shopping area, into the one-way street its on the right , a small open place.
Oh yeah, the Chrielka is on Olymion st. by the gardens. The Curium Palace, on the other side of the Gardens is also pretty good ( I hear) but I suspect its a bit pricey.
In the tourist area Tepee isnt bad.
Yes, it's raining in the UK. Last night was cooooold. |
