Brother your startin to sound like another ignorant c***...sorry to say that but its true. Your 'country' is built on ethnic cleansing undertaken by your 'big brother'.

I am cypriot who loves and respects every part of its history, you kifeas are a cypriot that hates every part of its Turkish history that is 500 years in the making, accept it at long last and then a great weight will be lifted off your shoulders or stick with the spite filled hate orientated nationalistic stance of the Greeks you seem to like holding on that 10 foot pedistal of yours and you will never achieve nothing. |
...would you want an African to love the European Imperialistic rule in Africa!?...I dont think so. Would you want a Native America to celebrate Thanks Giving? I dont think so...So why would you want Greek Cypriots to appreciate the Turkish opression in Cyprus???

On Saturday evening i had a very nationalistic Greek argue with me at my local takeaway when he decided to just get involved in my conversation with the owner about EU membership and stated that US bloody TURKS should get out of Cyprus and it is a Greek island, despite my over an hour of consistant fact and reasonable debate with him it was like trying to get water from a stone, he was adament about his racist idea's and at one point (this was really hard to believe) but he said that there was no such thing as a Turkish Cypriot but occupiers from Turkey now living in cyprus, this kifeas my friend is what you guys are breeding and educating over in the south, racist hellenes who hate Turks in all forms and shapes and then........
I will tell you the rest of the story later. |
Well if I heard you say what you said in the first paragraph above, I would have had an argument with you too....and you have no idea what people are 'breeding' in the south. Do you expect us to love people who call the Turkish invasion a 'peace process'?? lol...get real. |

| ...and as far as I am aware, Baklava is Arabic and was embraced by the Ottomans who spread it throughout their empire. |

| It is ridiculous to argue about whom Balkava belongs too. This is pathetic and cheap nationalism. |

| I think the whole uproar is stupid and an example of Turkish nationalism. How can Turks complain about Cypriots using Baklava as a national sweet when Turkey uses Greek heritage to promote itself as a holiday desination. The contradictions are ridiculous. |

Greece to uses Bulgarian cheese and sells it to the worlds as if it is Greek.
During the Cold War Greeks used to buy bjalo sirene from Bulgaria,
and export it to the world under the name feta as a Greek product. |

This is very funny coming from a nationalist Greek who has a completely distorted outlook on history, current trends and what the future holds for Cypriots. Your stupidity has no bounds. |

In the first paragraph i stated how we was talking about EU membership, whats wrong with that?????
I state that you are breeding RACISTS in the south as like that chap they really believe that there is no such thing as an indiginous Turkish Cypriot and that cyprus is a greek island. |

When i started to explain my hundreds of years worth of cypriot heritage that i knew off the top of my head he stared at me in bewilderment, when he changed the topic and started to make reference and similarities with the kurds and the restaurant owner who happened to be a kurd jumped in and told him that what he was saying and doing was absolute rubbish and even stated, "anyone that tries to tear Turkey apart will be fighting all her citizens and that includes the kurds", the Greek Cypriot knew that minute that all his teachings were biased and nationalistic teachings imo.
We spoke for another 20 mins and promised me he would read some neutral and biased Turkish Cypriot teachings to get a fuller view and he would also watch 'voice of blood'.
It is not his fault but the goverments that teach these warped realities that are designed to encourage hate. |

At worst he could have been family.
The point is that this is NOT the first time this sort of incident has happened to me where a Greek Cypriot does not know that Turkish Cypriot are equal residents/owners in cyprus, some listen and learn and others they just think you are liar and accept nothing of the kind.
This cannot be random but the end result of some very biased and racist education system or teachings from some really biased and racist people.
For me this really throws me back as i have a much more rosey picture of cyprus in the future but with these kind of people around i must admit it throws me back.
Can some of our Greek Cypriot friends please tell me how bad it really is and are there many people like this??? |

i cant comment on the other cypriots but im sure the resaon anger may be more 'amplified' in the UK, is because the vast majority of Greek Cypriots here are refugees/family of refuggees, so automatically, they will have an emotional reaction to Turks/Turkish Cypriots/cyprob. i think also a large problem is made when turks and turkish cypriots are not differentiated...especially to my generation.
because people generalise, young kids automatically think that turks and Turkish Cypriots are the same, and therefore do not bring a distinction (i kno one cousin like this who is a greek nationalist, so i tend to steer clear of politics when around him, i imagine he will grow out of it).
If people were more concious of what they say, then i dont think there would be such hostility...however, i think, understandably, the Greek Cypriots will always not like 'turks'(due to the fact they invaded/made refugees)..but i wouldhope that in the near future, or now, that differentiations are made between Turkish Cypriots and turks...that is the main problem imo.
The oldest generation have not problems with Turkish Cypriots (on the whole), my parents generation are a bit more hostile/reserved, since they never really 'lived with Turkish Cypriots', my generation i think either dont care, or are genreally more hostile, since the info that we get is just on the cyprob, and a lot comesfrom the church/ church sponsered greek schools. baiscally, i think that hostility is being breed mainly by the church/greek schools, whch for many, is there only source of constant opinion on the cyprob.
AGAIN...i do hope that maybe it is only the people i know, andnot the Greek Cypriots as a whole....please, someone else give their side...mine is not gospel ! |
