MODERATOR/ADMIN ANNOUNCEMENT:

This section of the forum is for discussion and learning, not teaching or preaching. It is for the sharing and examination of views not the imposition of them. This section is for peaceful dialogue, where people of all backgrounds can discuss the Cyprus problem, without fear of attack or personal insult.

Regardless of political beliefs, respect towards individuals is paramount as well as respect for any group or community. Racism and racist comments are not permitted.

The blue card system is in place for people to report personal insults or any other forum rules that have been broken, which moderators have not noticed. Self-moderation is expected from members, as moderators are unable to always find problems.

Henceforth, it is expected of members that they post with respect for others, whether they agree with them or not. Members who direct personal insults towards named or identifiable others (or make derogatory comments against named or identifiable others) will have their posts quarantined, pending they themselves amending the post to a respectable level (the areas contravening this guideline will be clearly highlighted by the moderator).

The final decision on the suitability of a post is at the disgression of the moderators. If the post is not edited within 24 hours, it will not be reinstated and will be permanently removed.

There is an expectation that members will be involved in self-regulation by using the blue card option to report posts that contravene the substance and spirit of this message (please do not abuse this option). Moderators cannot be expected to be present at all times to clear up the mess. Extremist views may be unsavoury, but they are to be respected as a person's beliefs... the watchword should be, criticise the point, not the person. If you're unable to do that, your posts will find themselves in quarantine.

Finally, what are the penalties for flagrant violations of these guidelines? Hereon any member that gets 10 posts in quarantine receives an AUTOMATIC one week ban, without any further discussion. Upon their return, the slate is wiped clean and they won't be banned again unless 10 more of their posts are put in quarantine.
