| Human rights activists in Greece have welcomed a new law passed by parliament which for the first time allows people to be cremated rather than buried. |
sounds liek a good thing that has finally happened. But for most people, being orthodox means they cannot be cremated anyway.

| The graveyards in the capital, Athens, are already full to overflowing. For many a burial plot is only rented for three years before the body has to be exhumed to make way for the next coffin. |
this is most distressing! in the uk, graves in most cemetaries are rented for about 80years...cs by that time, any relatives who 'cared' about that person would be dead anyway! |

Can't see them being so happy if this was extended to Orthodox folk...
What's the situation in Cyprus, last I heard a crematorium was being built somewhere or other to cater for the non-Orthodox souls... don't know if this is true or not. My personal preference would be to be cremated but since I'm Orthodox, I'm not sure that this will happen. |

| I disagree with funerals. I will not mention names but I knew of a funeral with a 9 thousand pound bill. |

Guess I'm destined for the ground then...
Still, if you believe Kifeas, I'm already off to stoke Satan's furnaces... |
