I lost the thread on who Dream was talking about so I did not want to answer. I know he hates Turks but if it was a follow on from my post then he unwittingly attacked Greeks????????????????????????????

in an attempt to indeed learn who these turks are, i came across some really interesting books :

William Hale : turkish politics and the military (1994)
excellent account on the history of the turkish army and pretty detailed on the three military coups

Omer Taspinar : kurdish nationalism and political islam in turkey - kemalist ideology in transition (2005). very elegantly written, easy read ...if one likes history/politics Wink


and if you can stand marxist terminology boo hoo
caglar keyder : state and class in turkey - a study of capitalist development (1987)



such an exciting country....
